Our Adventure: Day Three

A Trip to the Zoo...

Rosie was mesmerized by the monkeys!

The Three Stooges!

Josiah taking time to help Rosie. It was cute to watch as he casually stopped what he was doing to help her in an unaltered manner.

A girl after my own heart.

As you can see, William enjoyed the day!

The girls encounter with a bear...

hamming it up!

After the zoo, we went to Chick-fil-A for free chicken strips. The catch: wearing an article of clothing with a football team logo on it. Everyone in CFA seemed to wonder at our dressing the girls in large t-shirts. But we weren't bothered by the attention; we're used to feeling conspicuous!

Hannah decided to have a little fun and put Davina's hair in curlers.

Our Adventure: Day Two

Today functioned like any other Sunday (with the addition of three little heads to our pew)!

The most precious moment was our drive back home from church. I was driving with Hannah and the three little ones in the back seat. In the quiet I was thinking over a lot of things, and I found myself feeling lonely and discouraged about where God has me. It's certainly a challenge to remain spiritually minded and press on in faith, when you don't know the outcome or timing of God's plan. It was in the midst of meditating on these thoughts that I heard a sweet voice from the backseat, "This is the day, this is the day- that the Lord has made!"

Those words spoke so clearly to my heart! The Lord was graciously reminding me of His hand of mercy and providence upon this day. Even though it seems without direction and purpose, He ordained this very day before my first breath. He has a wonderful plan of bringing glory to Himself, and of my enjoying Him, if I can only look past my small range of focus and put my mind on Christ!

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Praise the Lord for the gracious reminders He sends through children!!!

Our Adventure: Day One

Christie brought the kids up on Thursday, then she and Isaac headed out today for their week-long trip to Minnesota. We're keeping Davina, Rosie, and William until they get back, and so far it's been delightfully eventful!

The challenge has been increased because mom and the kids are sick with a cold. Hannah and I are doing our best to take on the role of mother and nurse, but we're becoming aware of how much we have yet to learn about mothering!

It's been quite the adventure so far. We're looking forward to finding out what the rest of this week holds!

Uncle Doug spent hours patiently pushing Rosie in the swing yesterday! She seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself.

Tonight after dinner, Davina offered to help me make brownies. I put her in charge of stirring the ingredients together. I turned around to do something and when I turned back around I found her partaking in the fruit of her hands, (don't muzzle the ox, right!). When I asked her about it, she explained innocently, "I'm not eating the mix in the bowl, only the mix that's on the spoon." How could I argue?! I only wish I had thought of that one when I was young.

It's okay, mommy! A "little" chocolate never hurt anyone.

While Davina graciously cleaned the brownie bowl, Rosie and William helped feed the chickens. This is the only picture I could get of Rosie; as the rest of the time she was clinging to my leg. As you can tell from the picture, she didn't like the chickens invading her space!

Little William perfectly content.

CVS/Walgreens shopping for the week

I had a decently successful shopping trip to CVS and Walgreens this week.
After coupons, ecb's, $0.58 oop, and mail-in rebates; I came out with $16 in ecb's (and somehow having made $0.63 on the rebate), and the following items. I was a little bummed about coming out with $7 less in ecb's, but I guess it was worth it!

A Precious Gift

We were blessed this week by a new arrival into the family! I'm reminded of the delicacy of life as I admire my newest niece. Truly, children are a blessing from the Lord!

Mercy Jael Franseen was born on Wednesday (August 20th), at 5 lbs. 13 oz.

The family gathered to see the newest addition!

My Lunch Date

Monday morning, my thirteen-year-old brother, David, told me he wanted to take me out for lunch that day. He then proceeded to explain all that we could do on our date, and he insisted that he was going to pay for everything! When I tried to argue that it wasn't necessary that he pay, he looked at me with disappointed eyes and said, "but if you don't let me pay, then it won't be like a real date. I'm the guy and I should pay for everything!"
Of course, I couldn't argue any further. I liked his mentality and didn't want to "un-train" his reasoning by my stubborness.

We decided on Dacusville's very own, Laura's Family Restaurant...

Before our meal...

after our meal!
(David's learning why our family believes in courtship :))

It's amazing the way the Lord blesses us each day with a reminder that he has not forgotten about us!

I have been blessed with three wonderful brothers; and their initiative to help protect and care for their sisters has been a wondrous experience.

Thank you: Matt, David, and Josiah, for your smiles and love each day! (And thank you, David, for the wonderful date!)
