Photo Tip for the Week

Painting With Light

When a painter is creating an image, he focuses attention on the colors of paint applied to the canvas, the brush size, the amount of pressure needed for each stroke, etc. Photography is very similar. When your setting up to take a picture, think first and fore-most about the light.

The camera is your paintbrush, and the light around you is the paint. You can take that paint and create a beautiful image, if you properly use the tools needed.
To acquire the right amount of light recorded in your camera you need to focus on and understand these different factors: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, metering mode, flash, and ambient light.
I know it seems like a lot, but don't worry, we're going to break them down one at a time and get this mastered.

Remember, photography is an art, and you're the artist.

CVS: Week of October 5-11

This week came out to a profit of $2.80 on these items. Misha went straight for the Colgate; he was excited to have toothpaste in his favorite color! I was glad he was so easy to please and I actually made money to please him!

Camping!

Our family went on a camping trip this weekend...

in the front yard!

The boys decided on Friday night that they wanted to campout in the front yard. By bedtime they had convinced the rest of us to join in the fun.

With Hannah, Esther and myself in a tent we stayed warm and comfortable. Friday night went exceptionally well, so we decided to camp out again on Saturday night. All was well until the morning when I woke up to a large field spider in the corner of our tent...needless to say, that was our last night camping out!

We thought it had been the boys doing, putting the spider in our tent, so we decided revenge was necessary...to teach them a lesson. It is our place, after all, as older sisters to help in guiding and teaching our younger brothers!

We put a chicken in their tent...

CVS: Week of September 21-27

My $2.60 CVS purchase this week. I was thrilled about getting contact solution because I was in extreme need of some. Looks like I'll be set on snacks for the next few weeks!

A Full Day of Fun!

Our first two days with Misha have truly been a blessing! It's been fun to watch him become more comfortable in a new environment and begin to form a friendship with each of us. After his hospital visit today, we had a wonderful evening of fellowship with George and Alexandra Goode.
We've enjoyed getting to know Misha better, and he seems to fit in so nicely with our family.

My attempt at Russian. Yeah, I think he's laughing at me, not with me!

Google translater has been amazing! We had a long conversation with Misha last night by translating a phrase at a time. We were able to learn a lot about him, and had quite a few laughs at the way some things translated.

Misha's Arrival

After months of praying, Misha finally arrived safely to us. It's difficult to express the joy we experienced in finally setting eyes on the sweet boy we've prayed for, and waited so long to meet.

Misha and Igor

God is so good in the blessings He provides! Misha has been such a delight in the short time we've spent with him. We're looking forward to the months to come!
